Wholesale Virgin Cork Bark Cork Bark Tubes (25 Pounds) Review

5.0 rating

For longer than I’d like to admit, I’ve been working on my most recent critter project. It’s a huge upgrade for some of my current animals. I’ll probably write more about it soon! But it’s basically a big bioactive enclosure that I knew from the start I wanted to deck out with cork rounds.

I spent a ton of time searching the internet for a place to get the size cork rounds I’d need at a price that didn’t make me feel like a complete idiot, spending all my money on bark. If you’re here you probably already know, cork bark is expensive! After quite a bit of searching and pricing out different options, I decided to go with the 25lb box of cork rounds from Wholesale Virgin Cork Bark (not sponsored).

Bring On The Cork Rounds!

I know, I know…$152 is a lot to spend on bark. But the cage I was working on is large, so I needed a lot of nice, larger cork rounds. Most of the sites I found either didn’t sell cork rounds in the size I wanted, or if they did the price per piece was so much that I probably would have spent over $152 all said and done.

I decided to just purchase the cork rounds without contacting the sellers and hope for the best! I figured it’d be fun to be surprised and work with what I got. Plus, this would give me a more accurate representation of what the company sends by default so I could come here and share it all with you!

Here is what I received…

Yup, looks like a giant box of cork! I experienced a tiny blip with the shipping that wasn’t the sellers fault at all. Basically, I live in a pretty rural area and for some reason FedEx decided it’d be cool to just leave my giant package on the side of the road quite a ways away from my house. Fun. Luckily, I found the package before anyone had time to steal it. I wonder what a thief would have thought, opening up a giant box of bark?

Let’s Take a Closer Look…

In total, I received 10 cork rounds. They varied quite a bit in size and shape but, if I had purchased them individually, I’d probably consider all of them to be large. Maybe this is overkill but I took individual photos of each cork round I received. They’re ready for their close ups!

Phew…that’s a lot of photos of my giant wood (sorry, sorry I couldn’t resist…).

So, Would I Recommend Wholesale Virgin Cork Bark?

Yup.

You knew I was gunna write more…my long winded butt can’t just leave it at that.

I’m happy with my order from Wholesale Virgin Cork Bark and would 100% order from them again. Besides bulk cork tubes, they also sell cork bark flats, cork bark tiles, and other types of wood such as spider and ghost wood.

When you order in bulk like this you get what you get. You have to be aware of that. If you’re looking for a really specific size or shape of wood for a project then ordering like this will probably not be for you.

But if you just want a bunch of cork tubes to play around with, and you’re not super picky about the exact sizes or shapes, then this is a fun way to get cork tubes for your projects. It’s like a blind box of giant cork tubes!

How My Project Turned Out…

It’s like the cage version of an ugly wood trimmed car?

Ok, I don’t know if my work-in-progress terrarium actually looks good in that photo, but I love how it turned out! Once I added substrate and plants and all that, it didn’t look as much like I went way overboard with the wood (the cork panels on the wall are not from Wholesale Virgin Cork Bark, btw, despite the fact that they do sell cork bark tiles).

I had a lot of fun playing around with the different cork tubes I received, trying to figure out how I liked them best. I only ended up using half of the cork tubes I received, which is fine because I figured I’d have extra. I played around with the idea of selling the cork tubes I didn’t use, which I think I could have easily done. But, in the end, I decided to store them because with as many exotic pets as I have, you know at some point I’m gunna find uses for all the spare cork tubes!
