Kubuki (? – 6/10/2025)

Kubuki came to me on May 29th, 2020, in a group of 4 scorpions that I received as 'payment' in exchange for a sponsorship deal. Unusual origins, I know, but I very much enjoyed having Kubuki as part...

Locke (? – June 2025)

Locke was a wild-type axolotl that I took in as an adult in 2023. He was already an adult when I got him - a retired breeder, in fact, who had spent time in several different breeding programs, with...

Tito (2018 – 2025)

I took a bit of time off from posting on this blog, and sadly in that time we lost one of the Wild Hearts - Tito the Mexican redknee tarantula. I got Tito on July 26th, 2018. He was already quite...

Aurora (September 20th, 2008 – April 30th, 2025)

I'm sad to report that our beautiful Aurora passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2025. She would have celebrated her 17th hatch day here with us this upcoming September. I noticed this past...

Aurora (Sept.20th, 2008 - April 30th,2025) After Aurora (Sept.20th, 2008 - April 30th,2025)

After battling organ failure and gout, just due to old age as far as anyone could tell, we had to say a very sad farewell to the matriarch of our little animal family, Aurora. We kept her comfortable and happy as long as we could, and she passed very peacefully.

This is the last photo I have of her - always the beautiful lady even when she was old and sick!

For many years Aurora was my "go-to" reptile when anyone wanted to hold one of my exotic pets. She was beautiful inside and out and was always the sweetest, most laid back out of all my critters.

I know in her lifetime Aurora helped me to change many minds about reptiles by showing people how awesome they can be! Her legacy will live on through the hearts she touched, as well as through her spitfire of a daughter, Miyuki, who is still with us and doing well.

Rest in peace, sweet Aurora. You are missed.
