Leopard Geckos

Two beautiful leopard gecko ladies currently reside at the Wild Hearts house – Aurora, and her daughter Miyuki. I consider my leopard geckos to be the first reptiles that I owned and cared for on my own. I’m not sure that I’ll ever get any more, but I love these two lizard ladies and hope to have them as part of my life for a long time yet to come.

Aurora:

Hatch Date: September 20th, 2008

Aurora holds a place of honor as my oldest pet. In September of 2024 she’ll be turning 16 years old! You couldn’t tell by looking at her, though, since she still looks, and acts, the same as she did when she was younger. Aurora has always been a very chill, sweet gecko. She doesn’t mind being handled. She is oftentimes the critter I’ll take out when anyone comes over and wants to hold one of my reptiles. I’ve always thought that Aurora is very pretty and feminine looking for a lizard, but that might just be me.

Miyuki:

Hatch Date: June 14th, 2011

I still oftentimes think of Miyuki as “the baby” of the Wild Hearts however, she recently turned 13 and is my second oldest pet after Aurora. Miyuki is Aurora’s daughter! I bred Aurora one year and out of a handful of eggs only Miyuki’s egg ended up being fertile. I decided not to breed Aurora again and, as you can see, kept Miyuki. Miyuki is a beautiful lizard, just like her mother, but the similarities end there. While Aurora is sweet and calm, Miyuki is a little spitfire. She has an attitude and doesn’t really like people, although I just adore her. Maybe in another 13 years she’ll learn to like me? Probably not.
